We honour the brave individuals who allow us to witness their transformation. Names and identifying details are adapted to protect privacy, but the stories remain true to the resilience we see every day.

When I lost my job, I thought the toughest struggle I would face would be financial. I couldn't have been more wrong! While it was a challenge, the loss of autonomy and private living space led to the decline of my mental health faster than the loss of income.

I was about ten when my parents divorced. I tried to act like it didn't bother me, but deep down, it felt like my world was falling apart. My dad remarried almost immediately, and suddenly, there were new faces at his house, step-siblings calling him Dad, a new woman, and new family photos on the wall.

When it comes to misfortune, I believe, like everyone else, I've had my fair share. I remember the ups and downs of growing up in a dysfunctional household. I remember sleeping on the cold, hard floor of our pit latrine when one of my stepmothers decided she didn't want me in the house that night.
